I started knitting in 2013 as a mental deversion after a devastating engagement break. I learned from my dear friend Aurora who, at the time, was the owner of Fabric Bliss down in Denver, CO. What I didn't realize was that they (knitting & and Aurora) would become a solid friend, companion, and connection to a whole community of crafters present and past. My favorite things to knit include hats, sweaters, and shawls.
When I'm not knitting I spent 15 years as a K-12 educator and now work as an instructional coach with my local school district. I also love running around with my husband, two daughters, and two dogs exploring all the amazing things Colorado has to offer.
The inspiration for the name "Homemade Goodknits" came from my tendency to describe my knit pieces as having homemade goodness. This means that there are some imperfections. The piece may have a few errors to some; a few learning opportunities to others. Knitting appeals to the type A nature in all of us but it also helps us embrace the gifts of imperfection (Thank you Brené Brown). While knitting can be a cruel mistress forcing us to pull out and redo often, she can also be an amazing friend through good times and bad. I'm passionate about others having a similar learning experience and opportunity to embrace the craft, redos, mistakes, restarts, finished objects, and all.
