Finished Objects...not the other one
I hope you find inspiration from a small sampling of some of my recent finished objects which are also sprinkled throughout this website.
Think of all the beautiful things YOU could create with your new knitting skills!
All patterns can be found and purchased on Ravelry.
Goldwing Sweater Pattern by Jennifer Steingass
I started this sweater in October of 2022 for my mom. She approved the pattern and purchased the yarn. This is one of a long list of projects I have done that use Malabrigo Rios yarn. It is a beauitful hand-dyed colorway, 100% merino wool, at a super affordable price. These skeins were purchased from Maker and Stitch located in Edwards, Colorado. Also know as my LYS (Local yarn store).
As I tend to do, this pattern was picked up off and on for 10 months until I was motivated to finished it July of 2023 in order to submit to the Eagle County Fair and Rodeo. Check back to see if it won a blue ribbon or not! :)
Soldotna Crop pattern by Caitlin Hunter
This was knit the summer and fall of 2019 right after my second daughter was born. It was a knit-a-long sponsored by Liz at Colorful Eclectic and Six and Seven Fiber dyers. Colorful Eclectic is no long dying yarn but I still have some of her beautiful color ways in my stash.
This is a very fun knit and I have other color combos to knit another. Next time, I would opt to make it full length and may even opt to add longer sleeves. The color work and hence layers of yarn make it very warm and yet the lack of sleeves or full length means there are limited times of the year I reach for it.
Elephant + Mouse by Susan B. Anderson
This sweet little buddy was picked out by my brother and sister-in-law as a gift for their first born son. If you are going to knit a toy, you've got to knit a toy by pattern writer Susan B. Anderson (and yes...I always want to mix that up and say Susan B. Anthony). I used Mountain Meadow Wool Green River which is a local Wyoming yarn in Charcoal for the body and some Malabrigo Rios yarn in Okra I had in my stash. I purchase the Mountain Meadow Wool from one of my favorite yarn stores in Laramie called Cowgirl Yarn.
Although the trunk took on a phallic look until I got the eyes sown on, I adore the little mouse and his sweet little sweater pocket.
Love Socks by Deven Clement
I actually knit and his and hers set of these socks as a wedding gift in 2018 for my cousin and his wife. The stripes felt like short chapters in a book that kept me clipping along. It was my first time doing the knitting technique known as intarsia which allowed me to make the hearts on the heels. I used a kit from Michelle over at Independent Street yarn and was able to get two pairs of socks from the kit!
The Shift pattern by Andrea Mowry
I knit not one, but two of this amazing and popular cowl/shawl in 2022. It was my introduction to mosaic knitting and I fell...hard.
For the yarn on the first iteration, I used one skien of Camper by Kelbourne Woolens in the moss heather color way and three balls of Schoppel Edition 3 all purchased at my LYS Maker and Stitch. For the second iteration I took the plunge and used ALL Schoppel Edition 3. Highly recommend this pattern as a fun, engaging knit and awesome introduction to the beauty of mosaic knitting!
The (Not-So) Itty-Bitty Giraffe by Susan B. Anderson
Remember when I said Susan B. Anderson is the goddess of knit toys? This pattern being my introduction to her and it's also amazing. I have actually knit FIVE of these - 2 for my children and 3 for my very best friend's children. All giraffes were knit with Spud and Chloe Sweater. The pattern recommends Cascade 220 yarn though any durable worsted weight would work.
I adored watching each and everyone of these giraffes come to life. There is a lot more hand stitching than I am used to as a knitter, but it paid off in the end!
Dancing T-Rex Sweater pattern by Natalie V. Designs
The same nephew who was given the elephant toy seen above was also gifted this little number. Him and his Dad (my brother) are quite obsessed with dinosaurs so this was a natural choice. If you look closely you will spy some homemade goodness in the dancing t-rexes. It easy to make a mistake with colorwork! But I like to thing that t-rex is just splitting from the group. :) Yarn used is Malabrigo Rios purchased from Maker & Stitch in Edwards, CO.
